Guidebook listings

Specialist guidebooks that list Le Clos des Fontaines as a good Bed and Breakfast address in Ile de France

GUIDE VERT de MICHELIN - ZOOM SUR L’ESSONNE, first printed in 2009

In a vast park, an old vicarage with very quiet rooms, each with a personalised decor. Ample breakfast served in a modern dining room.
GUIDE DE CHARME - MAISONS D’HOTES DE CHARME
12 addresses in Ile de France were selected in 2009. Our establishment has been selected since the 2008 edition.

After the flashy Louis XIII frontage of Nainville castle, Le Clos des Fontaines offers a completely different perspective: this beautiful property is a little village within the village, with several old houses which are either detached or joined by a pretty conservatory. Most delightful of all, the graceful parish church appears to belong to this this unarguably distinctive set. The rooms each have their own style and atmosphere, even in the bathrooms (our favourites were 'Cinnamon' and 'Nutmeg' with their clean lines). To prepare guests for a busy day and the many activities on offer (tennis, sauna, fitness, etc.), a generous breakfast (with home-made brioches and yoghurts) is served on the patio overlooking the park or in a spacious and very bright lounge. An island of tranquillity and charm just 45 kilometres from Paris.
LE GUIDE DU ROUTARD - WEEK-ENDS AUTOUR DE PARIS
Our establishment has been selected since 2007.

In a big, beautiful and nicely restored farm in the middle of a park with century-old trees, 5 large rooms, each one unique and all delightful. We fell for 'Sesame', the biggest, and 'Nutmeg', both facing the garden. Excellent breakfast served in a big common room or, in fine weather, on the patio facing the park. A pleasant place for a holiday, more like a small family-run hotel than a bed and breakfast. The site includes a tennis court, sauna and small fitness room. Near the tennis court, note the mosaic 'Yann's Eden', a tribute to a (famous) former occupant of the premises.
BED & BREAKFAST - FRANCE BRIGITTE REISEBUCH - FRANKREICH VON PARIS NACH MARSEILLE

A hotel room as we know and love it: in a typical country house with stone walls, just 14 kilometres from Barbizon in Nainville-les-Roches (population 500), Geneviève Soton set up a five-room guest house a few years ago. The rooms are named after flavours: Cinnamon, Saffron, Sesame, Nutmeg, and Sea Salt. It has a tennis court, a fitness room, and of course a place to play boules. For those taking a walk in the woods, the hostess will pack a picnic basket.
GUIDE ROUGE MICHELIN DES HOTELS ET MAISONS D’HOTES
Our establishment has been selected since the 2006 edition.

In a vast park, an old vicarage with very quiet rooms, each with a personalised decor. Ample breakfast served in a modern dining room.
GUIDE MICHELIN DES CHAMBRES D’HOTES
330 addresses selected in France, of which only 7 were in Ile de France in 2009. Our establishment has been selected since the 2006 edition.

Spend a weekend savouring the tranquillity of this stunning place. Formerly a farm and then a vicarage, it has retained all of its original charm. Starting from the delicious enclosed garden and its century-old trees, hidden behind high stone walls. The owner, Geneviève, has put her entire heart and soul into the place. The rooms are separate from the main house and are especially delightful. 'Sea Salt' has a romantic feel with shades of lavender, 'Sesame' pays tribute to the sea, 'Nutmeg' is contemporary with dark woods and bright colours, etc. A superb old-fashioned conservatory houses a lounge: shades of ochre, terracotta floors, fireplace, teak furniture, and a direct view of the greenery...you'll want to linger there for hours. But a walk around the garden is an absolute must; lots of lovely surprises await you there!
